AF-CBT for
National Certification

AF-CBT is the best kept secret in trauma treatment. I'd love to introduce you to it. This EBT asks us to hold grace and compassion in equal measure both for the child who was harmed and for the parent whose intention was different from the method they used. That dual lens is what makes it so powerful and so needed.

  • Prepare for national certification as a AF-CBT provider

  • AF-CBT Session Guide shipped to your door

  • 12 months of support and collaboration as you learn the model

CAC Professionals: This course meets NCA's Mental Health Accreditation Standard as well as the optional Physical Abuse Accreditation Standard.

Training for You and Your Team

What should I expect when I learn AF-CBT from you?

I don't talk about theory or treating kids and families in an abstract way; I still do this work. I get what your day looks like, the ethical dilemmas that inevitably arise when your progress notes are due and your next client is waiting. I show up with humility and belief in you and your skills, not to mention shared investment in your clients' potential.

We'll partner to help children and families create a meaningful, safe path forward, one with opportunities for growth and repair. I'll help you live your mission and connect to the reasons we all chose to do this work - a desire to help and a recognition that people can change.

What is expected of me?
Who should attend training?

This training is appropriate for master’s level clinicians and above in a mental health field. Provisionally licensed clinicians are welcome as are fully licensed clinicians. Trainees should have an active caseload where they can apply the model to at least one child client aged 5-17 who presents with anger or aggression as a primary symptom, or where their caregiver struggles with this, or the family needs help with healthy communication.

Required Pre-requisites

There is a free 2.5 hour "Foundations of AF-CBT" course which clinicians must complete prior to training. You will earn 2.5 CEs and submit that certificate to me.

12 Group Consultation Calls - Included with Registration

Consultation is my favorite part of training!

We'll meet via Zoom once a month, answer your questions and have plenty of opportunities for everyone to staff their cases and practice the skills. Each learner will present their own AF-CBT cases twice during consultation and the group will help you plan next steps.

"I completed an AF-CBT cohort with Ashley early in my therapeutic career. Her way of encouraging critical thinking during consultation calls pushed me to further develop my therapeutic skills in ways that stuck. Since then I have regularly provided AF-CBT to families in our community, and the results have been striking: conflict reduction between caregivers and children, caregivers learning to regulate themselves before responding, caregivers accepting responsibility for physically abusing their children, and families building new communication skills to prevent conflict from developing. AF-CBT has become an asset to our community and has been approved by local probation officers and the court to meet probation requirements."

"AF-CBT training with Ashley Fiore has changed the way I work with families all around! Since starting AF-CBT, I've felt so much more confident helping families work through conflict, improve communication, and heal together. Ashley has a way of taking really challenging topics and making them feel practical, approachable, and even enjoyable to learn. Her consultation style is supportive, down-to-earth, and full of real-world examples that you can actually use the next day with clients. If you're thinking about taking a training with Ashley - do it!! You'll leave with practical skills, renewed confidence, and more than a few laughs along the way!

"This is my second time completing AF-CBT training, and Ashley's approach is very different from my first. During my first training, much of this information was presented only briefly, and I left feeling that some of the most important concepts had been glossed over. Ashley takes the time to ensure clinicians truly understand the model and how to apply it in practice. What has stood out most is the consultation component: she walks through assessments in real time using actual case examples, helping me understand not only how to administer them but how to interpret the results and connect them to each family's unique needs. Her ongoing availability for follow-up and her willingness to answer questions have made a tremendous difference in my confidence as an AF-CBT therapist."
