How We Teach Differently
Together we're offering something you genuinely won't find anywhere else - an integrated, advanced training that treats these two approaches the way they were always meant to work: together.
"I always looked forward to the consultation calls with Ashley and Geoff. This training made me a lot braver about challenging people when they write a kid off. I'm not minimizing the harm, but I don't think you can agree to be a helping professional and then decide who you will and won't help. Everybody deserves a chance."
- Lorenzo Carunungan, MS, LPC

Geoff and I have worked together for more than 20 years and have shaped each others' clinical practice and teaching philosophies. We continue to see clients and share cases at our local Children's Advocacy Center. Geoff brings national expertise and 30+ years of assessing and treating children and adolescents with problematic sexual behaviors; I bring the TF-CBT perspective that grounds us in the model.
Training Tracks
What should I expect when I learn TF-CBT PSB from you?
Expect to laugh, be real, and have fun while we do the work. Expect to reflect on times when you were wrong but thought you were right - we will, too. Expect to understand why we do what we do in TF-CBT - not to apply the model in a generic or formulaic way, but to individualize TF-CBT to meet the unique needs of the kids and families in front of you. We'll invite you to expand your assessment and case conceptualization skills with warmth and encouragement. Come ready to collaborate. Leave with real-world skills and a sense of community.

An Integrated Approach
Instead of thinking there's only one way to treat PSB in children, Geoff and I have developed a process for addressing PSB within TF-CBT - the same model, but a tailored approach. Integration comes down to how you conceptualize cases where kids have experienced trauma and are demonstrating sexualized behaviors. We start with comprehensive assessment and individualized safety planning, and then build your case conceptualization skills for intervening appropriately.
This intensive training builds on your TF-CBT foundation while developing the additional clinical skills you need to assess and treat children and adolescents whose trauma symptoms include problematic sexual behaviors. You'll learn how to engage these young people and their families in treatment using approaches grounded in adult learning principles.
Expect live and video demonstration of clinical skills by us and also to jump in and get support while you practice them yourself!

Training for You and Your Team

"Ashley and Geoff are absolutely exquisite clinicians who consistently set a high standard for quality work with children and families. Being in their training environment was both challenging and deeply enriching. It stretched me professionally and gave me a wide range of tools to increase my clinical knowledge and creativity in the therapy room. I genuinely feel that my perspective and approach on trauma and sexualized behaviors changed as a social worker after training with them. If you have the opportunity to attend a training with this dynamic duo, do it."
Grenisha Adams, LMSW

"I work with teens who have complex trauma, often referred by the Department of Juvenile Services, in court-ordered treatment. Learning TF-CBT for PSB from Geoff and Ashley changed how I work with these cases, giving me a way to address the root causes of problematic sexual behaviors and help my clients move through guilt and shame instead of staying stuck in them. While I've been trained in other trauma-focused models, this is the one I use most, and the consultation support from Geoff and Ashley is what makes me confident using it well."
Tricia Curran, LCSW-C

"Ashley and Geoff are absolute rockstars, the best of the best, and you'll want front-row tickets to every 'show.' Their passion, expertise, and engaging teaching style leave clinicians feeling inspired, confident, and ready to put what they've learned into practice. As a director, I've watched our team grow through this training, and I've seen firsthand what it means for the families we serve. TF-CBT PSB gives isolated, overwhelmed families the guidance, education, and hope they've been searching for, and our team is equipped to provide it."
